Vito D'Ambrosio is an Italian-American actor who was born in Taranto, Italy. At the age of 10, his family moved to New York and later to Chicago, where he developed his passion for acting. His career began in 1985 with his role in the TV action movie Two Fathers' Justice. His first significant role came in 1987 when he worked in The Untouchables, spending 8 weeks with Brian De Palma, who created his role, alongside his heroes Robert De Niro, Sean Connery, and a stellar cast. He later portrayed Officer Tony Bellows in the television series The Flash (1990), a role he reprised in 2015 for the modern version of the series.
Throughout his career, D'Ambrosio has worked in a variety of film and television productions. Notable credits include appearances in series such as Euphoria (2019), Person of Interest (2012), Boston Legal (2008), Unforgettable (2011), The Flash (1990 and 2014–2018), War of the Worlds (2005), The Color of Money (1986), The Usual Suspects (1995), and Mockingbird Don't Sing (2001).
In theater, D'Ambrosio has showcased his interpretative versatility. In 2025, he delivered a critically acclaimed and emotionally charged performance as actor John Barrymore in William Luce's play Barrymore, directed by Bryan Rasmussen at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks, California. The production, praised for its depth and artistic precision, marked one of the season’s highlights in Los Angeles’ independent theater circuit. D’Ambrosio’s portrayal stood out for its masterful balance between humor and melancholy, capturing the spirit, wit, and vulnerability of the legendary stage icon.
